With the harvest moon, fall is officially here. Leaves on the trees are starting to change and there are different hues of orange, yellow, red, and brown. It is traditionally a season of mystery—Halloween, even tales of ghosts, ghouls, vampires, and witches. One of the most nostalgic towns to travel to during the fall season is Salem, Massachusetts. The months of September and October are the busiest time to visit.
If you are one of Salem’s many tourists, a local, or a tea enthusiast, you should make it a point to visit Diehl Marcus & Co, at 11 Central St. It is in the historic Bulfinch Building, which happens to have been the First Bank of Salem. While the shop has one-of-a-kind art pieces and historic charm, it was their varieties of tea along with their product knowledge that drew me in.
Some of their unique flavors include Banana Bread Spice Black Tea, Apricot Brandy Tea, Belgian Chocolate Rooibos Tea, Blueberry Maple Black Tea, Champagne Raspberry White Tea, Hawaiian Paradise (which happens to be my favorite next to their Chai Tea), and a Peach Melba Tisane, just to name a few. Your palate will not be disappointed by the multitude of flavors.
If you know your tea, the staff will be happy to talk to you about their products and flavorful blends. Just answer a few flavor profile questions and they will point you in the direction of what they think you will enjoy best. Their tea and tisane ingredients are quality products and worth the expense. In my opinion, their prices are very reasonable for the experience, especially if you are someone who enjoys a great cup of tea. For those of you who can’t make it to Salem, Diehl Marcus & Co offers online shopping, delivering a little bit of mystery to your door.
